How to prepare for an IRAP assessment

An IRAP assessment is one of the most rigorous security evaluations an Australian government agency or cloud service provider will ever face. Yet the organisations that struggle most are rarely those with poor security. They are the ones that were unprepared for the process itself.

Documentation that does not reflect reality. System boundaries that have never been properly defined. Evidence packages assembled under pressure the week before the assessor arrives. These are the patterns that turn a manageable assessment into a painful and expensive exercise, and they are entirely avoidable.

This hands-on workshop is designed for security and GRC professionals who understand what IRAP is but have not yet been through an assessment. Working through real world scenarios, attendees will learn how to:

• Define and document system boundaries with confidence; 
• Build and maintain an evidence package that will hold up to scrutiny; 
• Conduct an honest internal gap analysis before the assessor arrives; 
• Manage the relationship with your IRAP assessor for the best outcome; and 
• What the most common findings are and how to address them before they become formal gaps.

Drawing on over a decade of experience conducting ASD accredited IRAP assessments, the facilitator will share what separates organisations that sail through their first assessment from those that do not. Participants will leave with a practical preparation checklist and a clear understanding of what assessors are actually looking for, so they can walk into their IRAP assessment ready rather than reactive.
