A structured studentship model pairs cyber security students with SMEs, building practical talent while strengthening small business resilience.

Session Details

This panel explores how structured studentship programs can create meaningful value for both emerging cybersecurity talent and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Delivered by Australian Women in Security Network and supported by the Victorian Government, the Victorian Summer of Cyber (VSOC) connects students with SMEs to address real-world cybersecurity challenges.

Featuring participating SME leaders, the session will share insights into the practical impact of engaging student talent, including contributions to cybersecurity uplift, risk awareness, and organisational capability.

Panellists will reflect on their experiences, key outcomes, and the role of collaboration between industry, education, and mentoring ecosystems.

The discussion highlights a scalable, symbiotic model that strengthens workforce readiness while improving SME resilience.
