Simon Cowley

Simon Cowley joined the Victorian Department of Health in 2018 as Principal Cyber Security Officer. Simon supports the Victorian public health sector on cyber security assurance, uplift initiatives, cyber threat intelligence and incident response. 

In 2021, Simon developed and implemented a medical device security assurance program, which supports hospitals and health services to mitigate cyber security threats to medical devices.

Simon has extensive experience in cyber security within the health sector and a broad knowledge of the cyber threat landscape, including threats to medical devices and operational technology. Before joining the Victorian Department of Health, Simon was a biomedical engineer with over 15 years of experience in healthcare technology management at public hospitals, specialising in network-connected medical devices.
