When patient safety meets incident response - medical device cyber incidents

Medical devices are a regulated health technology, extensively used for diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of patients in hospitals. 

These cyber physical systems can be impacted by cyber incidents. However, unlike cyber incidents in other technologies, a medical device cyber incident can directly impact patient safety and care.

This presentation will provide:

• Insight into medical device cyber incidents, including case studies
• A cyber incident response process that has patient safety at the centre, led by a multidisciplinary team
• How to build a medical device cyber incident response playbook
• How medical device regulation fits into incident response

The presentation will additionally detail the successful medical device security program implemented in the Victorian public health sector, that mitigates cyber risk across the medical device life cycle.
