Trent Bartels

Trent Bartels is a cyber security operations leader with over a decade of experience in IT, working across both internal and customer environments to manage and respond to cyber incidents. He has led security operations in complex organisations with diverse user bases, where threats range from external attackers to insider and high risk activity.

Trent specialises in incident response, threat detection, and operational resilience, focusing on building practical capabilities that enable teams to detect, investigate, and contain security incidents under pressure, regardless of the tools in use.

Outside of cyber security, Trent is an active emergency services volunteer and was awarded Firefighter of the Year, responding to over 400 incidents last year and more than 1000 across his career, including fires, car accidents, and rescues. Operating in high stakes, time critical environments has shaped his approach to incident response, reinforcing the importance of clear processes, calm decision making, and effective teamwork.

Trent brings a unique perspective by bridging these two worlds, translating lessons from the fireground into actionable insights for modern cyber security operations.
