Simon Carabetta

National Cyber Training Advisor
Comtech Training

A former high school teacher turned cyber security enthusiast, Diversity and Inclusion Advocate, and Cyber Workforce Development Specialist, Simon has been in, around, and adjacent to the cyber security industry since 2019 when he started out as Security Awareness Trainer at Water Corporation in WA. Since then, Simon has created significant student/industry initiatives in Western Australia, has coordinated cyber projects with the WA State Government, and is one of the Co-Chapter Leads for the WA Chapter of Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN). He is currently the National Cyber Security Training Advisor at Comtech Training.

Simon has advocated for greater gender equity in cyber security since he landed in this industry. In 2021 he was awarded the Male Champion of Change Award at the Women in Security Awards headed by Source2Create. Since then he has turned his sights on creating better opportunities for neurodiverse individuals, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, and new arrivals to Australia who have the drive but not necessarily the resources at their disposal to get their first taste of cyber security.

In his spare time, Simon enjoys spending time with his 3 sons, working on his podcast Rejected or Selected, and writing creative fiction.
