Shahani Basheer Rugaiya
Shahani Basheer Rugaiya is currently in the final semester of a Master’s in Cyber Security at RMIT University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering and an MBA in Aviation and International Business, with professional experience spanning aviation safety and software testing.
Her career began at Bangalore International Airport as an Aviation Safety Officer and Software Tester, followed by roles as a Game Tester for Zynga and a Globalisation Tester specialising in German language testing.
As an international student in Australia, she brings both professional experience and lived insight into the challenges skilled migrants face when transitioning into the local workforce. Her experience reflects broader systemic issues, including the underutilisation of skilled talent, barriers to entry, and the disconnect between capability and opportunity. She is particularly interested in contributing to discussions that address these gaps and support the development of more sustainable and inclusive workforce pathways.
