Ray Griffiths

Partner
KPMG

Ray Griffiths is a Partner specialising in cyber security, technology risk, and operational resilience, with deep experience across critical infrastructure, energy, utilities, and industrial environments. With a background spanning both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT), Ray works at the intersection where digital risk meets physical consequence.

Ray is known for his ability to bridge the long‑standing divide between IT and OT communities. Having been an ICS engineer for the first 10 years of his career, he works closely with engineers, control system specialists, and security professionals and understands both the technical realities of industrial environments and the governance and assurance expectations placed on modern organisations.

A strong focus of Ray’s work is translating complex security concepts into language that resonates with decision‑makers. He regularly supports boards and executive teams in understanding what “good” looks like in an OT and IT context, drawing on frameworks such as IEC 62443, capability maturity models, and Australian critical infrastructure guidance — without losing sight of operational reality.

Ray brings a pragmatic, experience‑driven perspective to the conversation about IT and OT security, challenging outdated assumptions and calling for a more mature, shared approach to protecting the systems that underpin modern society.
