Michael van Coppenhagen

Offensive Security Consultant
RSM Australia

Michael van Coppenhagen is a Melbourne‑based cyber security Manager in the Cyber Security & Privacy Risk Services consulting team at RSM Australia. Specialising in offensive security and technical engagements he has delivered engagements across a wide range of sectors including government, healthcare, banking, telecommunications, education, and utilities.

Michael has a small collection of technical cyber certifications including CREST, a masters degree in Cyber Security and is a qualified trainer.

Michael has over twenty years’ experience across information technology and cyber security. Before moving into offensive security consulting, he worked in infrastructure, systems administration, service delivery, and enterprise IT operations in Australia and Europe.

With a solid technical background Michael strives to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical people with mixed results. In recent years, this has included experience delivering penetration testing reports to Audit and Risk Committees, where the findings and remediations need to be understandable and actionable at a high non-technical level.

Alongside client work, Michael has been actively involved in mentoring and career coaching, particularly individuals attempting to transition their career into cyber security.
