
Michael McLaughlin
Michael McLaughlin is a leading cyber security attorney and policy advisor at the intersection of law, national security, and emerging technology. He co-leads the Cyber Security and Data Privacy practice at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, advising global clients on AI governance and the legal dimensions of cyber risk.
Michael is also the CEO of VeridatAI, whose platform establishes a cryptographically verified chain of custody for AI training data, serving as a reference implementation for AI TD-BOM compliance.
A veteran Naval Intelligence Officer, Michael served over 15 years in senior counterintelligence and policy roles at U.S. Cyber Command, the NSA, and the Cyber National Mission Force. His operational background informs his current work shaping AI training data legislation in the U.S. FY2027 NDAA. He is the co-author of Battlefield Cyber: How China and Russia Are Undermining Our Democracy and National Security and a contributor to defense community discussions on quantum readiness and national cyber policy.
