Martin Barnier
Martin is a senior cyber technology leader with over a decade of experience advising Australian Government and regulated industry clients. His work spans architecture, identity, cloud, critical systems engineering, and cyber defence, and he has delivered outcomes across more than fifty federal projects in senior consulting and in-house roles supporting large-scale transformation programs across government and enterprise environments.
His current role sits at the intersection of AI, cloud, critical infrastructure, and secure-by-design architecture - the exact convergence this session explores. He brings a practitioner's view of what it actually takes to defend the physical foundation of Australia's AI build-out, drawn from hands-on engagements with facility operators and enterprise customers, and a long-standing focus on how emerging technologies reshape national risk, regulatory expectations, and the practical work of defending Australia's critical systems.
The AI data centre, securing the physical foundation of the Australian AI boom
