Kathleen Cowan is a Commercial Airline Captain with almost 22 years’ experience with an Australian commercial airline. She holds a Bachelor of Aviation with a focus in Human Factors and has spent her career operating within safety-critical environments.

Prior to joining the airline industry, Kathleen was a Senior Grade 1 Multi-Engine Flying Instructor. She is currently a Human Factors Facilitator and an approved Line-Oriented Safety Audit (LOSA) auditor within her airline’s Safety Management System.

Kathleen is passionate about helping organisations understand the impact of human performance on safety, decision-making, and operational outcomes, and how human factors principles can help build safer and more resilient organisations.
