Legal Counsel

Kate Basta is a lawyer and a specialist in digital law. She spent more than 10 years working in the tech industry, including running startup operations and managing tech projects, before moving into the legal profession. This background gives her a practical understanding of how technology and law work together in the real world.​

Kate holds a Master of Laws in Digital Law from Monash University and is the current Chair of the Law Society of WA’s subcommittee for Governance, Compliance, and Cyber Security. She also sits on their Technology & Law and Ethics committees. Based in Perth, she focuses on the practical side of AI ethics and cyber security. Outside of work, Kate enjoys rock climbing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
