Jun Yamog
Jun Yamog is a Lead Security Architect at CyberCX, where he bridges the gap between cyber security operations and artificial intelligence. With nearly three decades of experience across cyber security, finance, education, and commerce, Jun brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise and practical AI application to the security domain.
At CyberCX, Jun has been instrumental in scaling the architecture of a SIEM platform handling over 2TB of daily data ingestion, migrating critical security infrastructure from on-premises to cloud, and bootstrapping a Managed Security Service Provider offering that grew from zero to nearly 150 customers. His architectural work underpins the security operations that protect organisations across the region.
Since 2024, Jun has been at the forefront of applying AI and Large Language Models directly to cyber security workflows. He developed internal AI-powered applications that accelerate the work of auditors, and sales teams at CyberCX. Going further, he built an AI system that mentors security consultants conducting penetration testing engagements. His most recent project is an agent that assists defenders by gathering threat intelligence, assessing an organisation's exposure, and producing comprehensive intelligence reports, turning what was traditionally weeks of manual work into a streamlined, AI-assisted process.
Jun is a strong advocate for accessible and sovereign AI. He is an active voice in the local AI community, producing video content that walks practitioners through building their own AI servers and running models locally. His hands-on approach to local AI reflects a core belief: that security teams and organisations should understand and control the AI tools they depend on, rather than treating them as black boxes.
Before joining CyberCX, Jun held senior technical leadership roles that shaped his cross-disciplinary perspective. As Solutions Architect and Vice President at First NZ Capital, he led the modernisation of legacy systems and drove the firm's first cloud production deployment, laying the groundwork for broader digital transformation. At Totara Learning, he led the Mobile Hub team and spearheaded the development of the Totara mobile app.
Earlier in his career at Catalyst IT, he delivered solutions for major clients including Telecom New Zealand, Fairfax, and the New Zealand Stock Exchange, and integrated learning management systems for government and education institutions. His independent consulting work spanned healthcare system optimisation for US hospitals, CMS platforms serving over 100 non-profit organisations, and the development of Greenpeace International's multilingual Cyber Activist platform.
Jun's career has consistently been defined by a willingness to dive into unfamiliar territory and emerge with working solutions. Whether it was introducing cloud-native architecture to a traditional financial institution, scaling security operations to handle massive data volumes, or building AI agents that augment the capabilities of security professionals, he approaches each challenge with the same blend of curiosity, pragmatism, and technical depth. He is based in Wellington, New Zealand.
