Cyber Security Leader | Risk, Governance & Emerging Threats
Queensland University Of Technology

Dr Gowri Sankar Ramachandran is a cyber security specialist, researcher, and educator whose work sits at the intersection of real-world threat discovery and organisational security strategy. His research has identified and removed malicious packages from widely used open-source repositories, discovered exploitable vulnerabilities, and led security research deployments with law enforcement agencies in the United States, including the LA County Sheriff's Department and the California Department of Justice.

Gowri brings a practitioner's perspective to governance, risk, and compliance, having designed and delivered GRC and cyber risk management programmes for the next generation of security leaders. He works closely with Australian security firms to bridge the gap between emerging threat research and operational security decision-making. He is a recognised voice in the Australian security community, having spoken at BSides Brisbane 2025 and BrisSec 2026, and chaired the AISA Queensland panel on third-party risk. He holds a Senior Lecturer position at Queensland University of Technology.
