Gennadiy Belenkiy

Principal Technical Program Manager
Akamai Technologies

Gennadiy Belenkiy is a cyber security professional with 20 years of experience in security and 26 years in IT. He works in the Information Security function at Akamai Technologies, where his role sits at the intersection of technology, risk, third-party management, compliance, and legal. This cross-functional position gives him a practical view of how security decisions are shaped not only by technical capability, but also by operational pressures, governance arrangements, contractual realities, and accountability expectations.

He holds an MSc in Human Factors and System Safety from Lund University. His interests focus on how complex sociotechnical systems are designed, governed, and operated, particularly where automation and AI reshape professional judgement, coordination, and control. He works closely with technology teams that build and operate AI-enabled systems, bringing a practitioner perspective on the risks and assumptions that emerge when these tools are introduced into real organisational settings.

His work and research interests include cyber security practice, operational risk, human-AI interaction, joint cognitive systems, and the application of cognitive systems engineering to resilient complex operational environments.
