The movie "Hackers" and the lessons we still haven't learned
Thirty years on, the password habits and social engineering flaws the film Hackers depicted remain unresolved, with lessons for teaching cyber awareness.

The basic vulnerabilities and lessons raised/taught in the movie are still some of the most prevalent within the community, such as (but not limited to):
- Password security (the attitudes towards it)
- Companies & board members knowledge and view towards cyber security
- Success & ease of social engineering attacks
In this presentation we will cover not only the lessons that can be learned from the movie, from a modern cyber awareness & education perspective, but also why the issues are still the same 30+ years after the movies release, furthermore, methods and strategies to help correct this issue and help companies (and local, state, and federal bodies) change their understanding & approach to cyber security based challenges, and maybe even help to educate the general population on how to take cyber security more seriously, instead of creating potentially pointless debates on legislations around the topics of cyber, which may, or may not, work in both the long and short term.
