Atif Ahmad
Atif Ahmad is Professor of Cyber Security Practice at the University of Melbourne and Deputy Director of the Academic Centre for Cyber Security Excellence. He has spent 25 years studying how organisations actually behave during cyber attack, not how they say they do. His research sits at the intersection of academic rigour and operational reality. In parallel with his academic career, he worked as a cyber security consultant with Pinkerton, WorleyParsons, and SinclairKnightMerz.
Atif is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) since 2001 and has conducted over 40 in-depth case studies inside critical infrastructure organisations in Australia and Southeast Asia.
For the last five years Atif has been assisting the Malaysian Government to uplift the nation's cyber defence capability through contributions to the National Strategy and development of maturity models and strategic thinking tools to measure and improve cyber resilience for leadership in both private and public sectors.
His clinical research on cyber threat intelligence, the first systematic empirical study of how CTI is actually practised inside a top tier bank, has been published in leading journals including the European Journal of Information Systems and Computers & Security.
